Jul 10, 2017 Cracking & Popping On Dell Systems. This will fix sound distortion and static in almost all system. If you’re using a Dell laptop/desktop, your speakers might occasionally crack. This is to do with a power management feature that is enabled by default on Dell systems. So, after a Windows 10 update, my computer's sound started being really distorted from output devices from the headphone jack on my computer. I have Realtek Audio and have made sure all the drivers were updated and such as well as mess with the settings for the speakers in realtek but nothing worked. The sound drive that my system is using is called realtek high definition audio. It seems to be working fine if i use a HDMI cable and use the television for sound. When using the laptop sound system I can hear the correct sound in the background then the distortion kicks in and i cant hear much that sounds correct. Re: Distorted sound. Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu. Press f9 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f5, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
